I’m not an expert in any way. I wouldn’t say I was confident in going in and just taking a lesson. I would definitely need to prep quite a lot. Sonappa gave me a step-by-step guide, with the videos and the instructions that come with the lessons.

It’s probably my class' favourite lesson that I’m doing with them. It’s the one that they’re always the most engaged with. It’s the one that they always want to do independently, by themselves. They really want to get a grasp of this subject. It’s really good.

The kids have loved it, they’ve been very enthusiastic. We spoke about it being a mini recording studio in their hands. Their eyes just lit up and they thought ‘wow, the possibilities here are almost endless’.

Video Testimonials
Hear directly from teachers who have been using Sonappa’s ready-to-teach lessons to transform music education at their schools.
“Sonappa’s been a fantastic tool, especially for me as I’ve not had much of a musical background. It’s very straightforward and step-by-step, and it’s really easy to develop as the lessons go on. I think it’s a great tool to get teachers and children involved in learning about music and different genres..”
Erin O’Neill | Class Teacher, Ardgowan Primary School
“As somebody who’s not musical, I was a bit apprehensive of something that was new. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to use and work with the boys and girls. Now, I’m able to teach it to my peers, I can teach it to my pupils and they absolutely love it.”
Andrew Armstrong | Class Teacher, St Anthony’s Primary School
“We’ve started working through the online lessons, and they’re really accessible for all teachers. Whether you have a musical background, whether you have a technology background, they’re super simple to follow and really easy for the children to engage with.”
Emma Wilkins | Class Teacher, Kilmacolm Primary School
“We’ve been working with Sonappa Digital Music-Making. Not only have they come and trained the RAISE team, they are also within a number of Inverclyde schools. You don’t need digital skills or music-making skills. It’s there, and it’s a step-by-step guide to digital music-making.”

Sonappa - A Case Study
To help launch Sonappa and improve our online music curriculum, we ran a 9-month pilot in schools across Scotland. Here are some key findings:
Nearly 1000 uses of the video resources, either to deliver classroom music lessons or conduct professional development for teachers.
Approx. 900 hours of music lessons were delivered in Scottish primary schools (based on our average lesson time of 1 hour).
93% of teachers say Sonappa makes it easier and gives them increased confidence in delivering music lessons, and has also resulted in music lessons taking place more often.
86% of teachers strongly agree that their pupils enjoyed using Sonappa to learn music.
They also reported that their pupils progressed musically after using Sonappa, making it more likely for a student to choose a musical subject when transitioning to secondary school.
Sonappa's mission is to put music lessons in the hands of teachers with minimal preparation and zero required expertise.
